Sometimes, you may want to play a PowerPoint presentation without using Microsoft PowerPoint. To do this, you can convert your presentation to a video format and burn in onto a DVD disc. You can then play the presentation on any computer capable of playing DVDs, as well as any DVD player. Before you try it yourself, though, make sure you know all the required steps.
Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructionsThings You'll Need:Microsoft PowerPoint or OpenOffice Presentation1Save your created PowerPoint presentation onto the desktop of your computer. Note the name of the file. You'll need it later.
2Visit authorSTREAM. Register for free by clicking the "Join Now" button in the upper right-hand corner. Enter your information on the resulting page and submit your registration.
3Click the "Upload" option from the menu bar near the top of the screen and choose "Single File Upload." Select "Choose File" and double-click on the PowerPoint presentation you saved to your desktop. Customize your upload by choosing what you want it to be called, who you want to see it, etc. Click "Upload PowerPoint."
4Select "Your Stuff" from the menu bar and choose "Your Presentations." The presentation will have options in a box to the right. Click the "Convert to Video" option at the very bottom. Download the video to your computer after conversion.
5Burn the downloaded video to a DVD. You can do this by using a variety of free programs available over the Internet. However, you might check your computer first. Often a Windows operating system (such as Windows 7) will come with a built-in DVD burner.
Tips & WarningsIf you don't own Microsoft PowerPoint, you can download OpenOffice Presentation for free. When you're done creating your PowerPoint, safe it as a ppt format.Make sure to rehearse timings on your presentation before upload.
