Saving video recordings on an external hard drive is a relatively simple process, regardless of what program you're using. While the steps will vary depending on which program you're using, the settings and how you need to alter them are the same. You can configure your program such that all video recordings will be automatically saved onto an external hard drive, or you can opt to manually save each recording after it finishes.
Difficulty: Moderately EasyInstructions1Start your video recording program.
2Open the "Options" or "Preferences"; they are usually located under the "File" or "Edit" menus.
3Set the directory where files are saved by default to be that of your external hard drive. Press "OK" or "Save" to save your settings. Alternatively, after recording your video you can manually save it to your external hard drive. If you try to exit the program without saving your video, it will ask you if and where you want to save the file.
