FWP files are Forwarded Mail files associated with the Imail Server, an email client developed by Ipswitch Inc. Windows comes with tools to restore files after a hard drive crash or accidental removal. You can restore any file as long as you previously created a backup of the file. Use the Backup And Restore utility found in the Control Panel to assist you in any data recovery processes.

Connect the USB flash drive, external hard drive or insert the optical disc that stores the backup of the FWP files.

Click "Start" and type "backup and restore" into the Start Search box. Click the "Backup And Restore Center" option that appears in the results list.

Click "Restore My Files" in the Backup And Restore Center welcome window. Choose the "Browse By Files" button and select the FWP files you want to restore. Click "Next."

Choose "In the original location" to return the FWP files to their earlier location or choose a new destination folder by clicking "Browse."

Click "Restore" to return the FWP files to the selected destination.
