Simply Accounting is a business accounting software created by the Sage software company. This entry-level accounting software is designed for small businesses. It offers payroll functionality as well as the ability to create invoices, pay bills, track inventory, monitor budgets and generate financial reports for the business. Simply Accounting is available in single-user and multi-user versions. As of September 2010, the most current edition of the software is Simply Accounting 2010.

Determine which upgrade version you need. If you have Simply Accounting Basic 2007 or Simply Accounting 2008, you need to upgrade to Simply Accounting Pro 2010. If you have Simply Accounting Pro 2007, or an earlier version, you need to upgrade to Simply Accounting Premium 2010 or Simply Accounting Enterprise 2010. With Simply Accounting Enterprise 2010, you can have up to 20 users. With Simply Accounting Premium 2010, you can have up to four users. If you have Simply Accounting Premium 2008, you need to upgrade to Simply Accounting Premium 2010 if you have four users or less or you can upgrade to Simply Accounting Enterprise 2010 if you have more than four users.

Visit the Simply Accounting website to purchase your upgrade. Alternatively, you can call Simply Accounting at 888-261-9610 to purchase over the phone. As of September 2010, the upgrade editions start at $169.99.

Insert your Simply Accounting upgrade disk in the optical drive on your computer. Click on "Upgrade Simply Accounting" on the screen that appears.

Select your preferred language, click "OK" and then "Install."

Get the serial number from the installation disk case and enter it on the screen when prompted. Click "Next" to continue.

Read and agree to the license agreement to move forward in the installation wizard.

Select "Yes" on the Windows Firewall screen to have it automatically configured to work with Simply Accounting. Click "Next" to continue.

Click "Next" to install the upgrade to the same location as your current version and then "Typical" as your type of installation. Click "Next" to continue.

Review the options you selected on the summary screen and click "Install" to install your upgrade.
